Machete-wielding thug threatens staff and steals cider, vapes and loose change

A machete-wielding thug stormed into a service station and threatened staff before stealing cider, vapes and loose change.

The terrifying incident happened shortly before 11pm on Thursday (may 30) at the Kitchens garage on Trafalgar Street in Burnley. Lancashire Constabulary said the offender went into the store armed with a machete and demanded staff open the till.

When they refused he left after stealing some cider, vapes and loose change. Police said no-one was injured during the robbery and they have now shared CCTV of a man they want to speak to as part of their investigation.

He is described as a white man, between 5ft 5ins and 5ft 9ins tall, aged in his 20s with a skinny build. He was wearing a black Nike hoody, black track pants and black trainers with a black hat on.

In a statement last night, Burnley and Padiham Police said: "Do you know this man? We want to identify and speak to him after a robbery in Burnley.

"We were called at shortly before 11pm yesterday (Thursday, May 30th) after a man went into Kitchen’s Garage on Trafalgar Street armed with a machete and demanded staff open the till. They refused and the offender left after stealing some cider, vapes and loose change.

"No-one was hurt. The offender is described as a white man, between 5 ft 5 and 5ft 9ins, aged in his 20s, skinny build, wearing a black Nike hoody, black track pants and black trainers with a black hat on.
