The owners of a much-loved Glasgow bar which has served punters in the city for nearly four decades have made the difficult decision to close.

The Ross family, who ran Mackinnon's in the Gallowgate, posted on Facebook to say the bar is now shut after "37 years and 4 months".

Famous for its 'breakfast pints', where drinkers could enjoy alcohol from 8 am thanks to its rare licence, the bar has been serving beers with breakfast for generations, with a drinking spot on the site for hundreds of years, dating all the way back to 1815 in fact - the same year the Napoleonic Wars ended.
