The Los Angeles Kings have signed Tyler Madden to a three-year contract, the NHL franchise announced on Monday.
Madden – the son of former NHL player John –completed his sophomore season at Northeastern University, leading the team with 37 points.
A two-time nominee for the Hobey Baker Award, Madden was a first-team selection to the Hockey East All-Star team this past season after his 19 goals were tied for 11th in the country.
Selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the third round of the 2018 draft, the Kings acquired Madden's rights last month as part of a trade involving Tyler Toffoli.
Madden's father enjoyed a 13-year NHL career, totalling 348 points while winning a pair of Stanley Cups with the New Jersey Devils and one with the Chicago Blackhawks.
