I made a £34.95 purchase and it has completely transformed my morning
Every conversation I have ever had about Benno Box has ended with me saying, ‘I must definitely try it this week.’ Months have passed since the first time I uttered that promise to myself.
However, last week, I finally caved in and ordered from the Liverpool-based meal prep company. The business, located on Upper Parliament Street, is the brainchild of South Liverpool’s Andrew Kelly.
Anyone familiar with the 27-year-old will know he is a renowned—and impressive—runner in the region. The athlete has completed the Boston Marathon and a 200-mile challenge, all in spectacular time.
I am gearing up to complete my first marathon in Manchester in April next year if all goes well. With this in mind, I figured I could learn a thing or two from Andrew, the first of which is the importance of a breakfast meal.

Although the company offers pancakes, waffles, steak and eggs, wraps, and smoothies, I desperately wanted to try their famous protein oat pots. I’ll be the first to admit I would much prefer an extra five minutes in bed than getting up to make breakfast, so this seemed like the perfect option for me.
Available in a range of flavours, I settled on chocolate orange, Kinder Bueno, Nutella, peanut butter and Rolo. I still have my eyes on the Caramilk and Pistachio-flavoured pots.
I ordered a pack of five, which were delivered to me aptly on a Monday morning, starting the week strong. The pots were bigger than expected, and each day, I struggled to finish the meal. However, this is probably due to the fact that I went from eating nothing before 11 am to trying to scoff a pile of oats down my throat.
I could not fault the meal itself. Its size allowed me to nibble on the oats throughout the morning, letting me stay fuller for longer, push back my lunch, and essentially cut out a mid-afternoon trip to Greggs.
The chocolate flavour was evenly packed into the meal, making it not a chore to eat only to reach my protein goal. Besides the size and flavour, the main reason why I will be going back for more is because of the ease of it. The plastic pots are sitting ready to go in the morning meaning my only struggle was deciding between Nutella or Kinder Bueno. A batch of the Protein pots can be ordered online for £34.95.
