Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing has addressed rumours that he's romantically involved with Sophie Habboo.

Speculation has emerged that Jamie and Sophie have been dating, which has been further fuelled by tabloid reports that it has caused a rift with Sam Thompson.

After all, Habbs is the the latter's ex-girlfriend, the pair splitting up at the end of last year with Sam subsequently leaving the E4 reality series.

Jamie has now spoken about the rumours, telling the Made in Chelsea: The MIC Drop podcast that he has reached out to Sam in the wake of the reports.

"The problem is that in the press, things have come out where it says 'Sam Thompson feels betrayed because Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing are dating'," he said. "And that has come out with no-one really knowing anything.

"And that's pretty awkward now, it gets a lot of people upset. My ex-girlfriend is upset, Sam's upset, [Sophie's friends are upset]."

Jamie went on to say that the stories aren't true, continuing: "It really sucks when things like that are being said, because firstly it's not true, so it's false things being out there.

"The article said that Sophie and I are dating – that's not true. A lot of people get upset and they feel a little bit hurt, and I reached out to Sam. I spoke to him, explained the situation. I said I was sorry. I haven't heard from him since, so obviously it's a tricky scenario to deal with.

"People say you've done the good deed. The good deed would've been to never have said anything in the first place. So I'm completely in the wrong, without a doubt. It's just about how you deal with the aftermath."

Made in Chelsea airs on E4.
