Madeleine Police Want To Interview Robert Murat

Police want to interview Robert Murat as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, Sky sources say.

Detectives are looking to speak to a number of people in relation to the case, who will be questioned as witnesses.

Mr Murat was the first suspect in the case but was later cleared.

The British ex pat has always denied any involvement in the girl's disappearance and is reported to have told one news outlet today that he is happy to speak to police as he has nothing to hide.

In 2008 Sky News paid undisclosed damages to Mr Murat for publishing a false allegation that there were strong grounds for believing he was guilty of abducting Madeleine.

He also successfully sued a number of other media outlets.

Three-year-old Madeleine, from Rothley, Leicestershire, went missing from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007.
