Following the phenomenal success of Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody, an official biopic about Madonna is in the works. The film will tell the story of the artist's life and career – and will be directed by Madonna herself.
Working alongside Diablo Cody on the script, the screenwriter behind movies such as Juno and Young Adult, Madonna will reveal her journey to fans, from her childhood in Michigan to reaching global superstardom and eventually becoming one of the best-known and iconic musicians of all time.
Although the script is yet to be complete, the singer has revealed to fans some snippets of what to expect from the movie. Speaking via her Instagram account, Madonna shared that she would be sharing her "struggle as an artist trying to survive in a man's world". She added that she would be sharing every emotion including: "happy, sad, mad, crazy, good, bad and ugly".
"I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer – a human being, trying to make her way in this world," the singer said in a statement. "It's essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me?"
This will not be Madonna's first director role with the singer having taken on the task with the 2008 movie Filth and Wisdom and again in 2011 with WE.
The film, which does not yet have any casting or production timeline confirmation, will be produced by Universal Pictures, the singer confirmed on her Twitter account.
