Madonna has had an Instagram post censored after she shared a video of a conspiracy theorist doctor and preacher claiming that hydroxychloroquine cures Covid-19.

The 61-year-old singer's clip - which had previously been shared by Donald Trump - was blurred by the tech company on Tuesday, as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube also removed Dr Stella Immanuel's video.

In the video, Dr Immanuel claims a cure for the coronavirus has “been found and proven and has been available for months.”

Madonna captioned the clip for her 15 million followers: “They would rather let fear control the people and let the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.”

The video, which Madonna said featured her “hero", soon appeared blurred and re-captioned as “False Information,” alongside a link that led to another page on the platform, which clarifies the claims.

Madonna has since deleted the post. Mr Trump's promotion of the video on Monday night sparked uproar, given Dr Immanuel's controversial views.

She has claimed that gynecological problems like cysts and endometriosis are in fact caused by people having sex in their dreams with demons and witches.

In a 2015 sermon she declared that the Illuminati are promoting a plan hatched by 'a witch' to destroy the world using abortion, gay marriage, and children's toys.

Since 2002 she has run Fire Power Ministeries out of a strip mall near her clinic, and the church's beliefs section on their website - which has now been taken down - says they are against "unmarried couples living together, homosexuality, bestiality, polygamy, etc."

The singer, an outspoken critic of the president, would have surprised many of her fans by posting a video which he also shared.

Twitter temporarily suspended Donald Trump Jr. for sharing the same clip of Dr Immanuel discussing the anti-malarial drug. “This virus has a cure: It’s called hydroxychloroquine, zinc and Zithromax,” says Immanuel in the footage. “You don’t need masks. There is a cure.” alone.”
