Madonna pays tribute to her dad on his 90th birthday

Madonna has thanked her dad Silvio Ciccone for giving her life as he celebrates his 90th birthday.

The Queen of Pop, 62, marked her father’s big day by sharing a throwback photo and rare footage of him leading a pre-show prayer before one of her concerts.

“Heavenly Father (Dad),” she wrote on Instagram.

“Thank you for giving me life........ And all other Blessings you’ve bestowed upon me.

“Happy 90th Birthday! You are the O.G.”

The image that Madonna shared shows her as a baby with both of her parents. The singer’s mum Madonna Louise passed away when the star was five.

The video clip was filmed during the pop star’s Re-Invention World Tour in 2004.

It shows Silvio holding his daughter’s hand as he leads her and her team in a prayer before she goes on stage.

“Heavenly father, thank you for the blessings you bestow on all of us, the life you have given us, the air we breathe, the people we spend our life with - give them strength to endure and to go on with their performance,” he says.

“Thank you for all your blessings. Amen.”

Madonna also shared with fans that she and her children headed to Michigan to spend time with her father on his special day.

The Material Girl singer posted a picture on her Instagram Story of her eight-year-old twins Stelle and Estere sleeping in the back of a car with the words: “On our way to grandpa’s.”

She later uploaded footage of the vineyard which she referred to as “heaven”, and her daughter Lourdes, 24, was seen in the clip.

Madonna is also mum to sons Rocco, 20, and David Banda, 15, and daughter Mercy James, 15.
