Married at First Sight Australia star Alyssa Barmonde has opened up about appearing on season 10 of the dating show and admitted feeling regret over how she treated a fellow contestant.

Love hopeful Alyssa has been on viewers' screens a lot over the last few weeks, with MAFS Australia airing its season 10 finale earlier this month.

Alyssa was paired with Duncan James on the show, and despite their best efforts, they called off their relationship at their final vows ceremony.

Reflecting on her time on MAFS with Cosmopolitan UK, Alyssa shared that she regrets mistreating Claire Nomarhas on the show.

She explained that her past experience of having an affair with a married man influenced the way she treated Claire and reacted to her kissing someone who wasn't her husband-to-be.

"[My affair] happened well over ten years ago when I was living in the States. I was young and made a dumb decision that I will always regret. I thought I loved him, so I believed the lies he told me," Alyssa shared.

"When I found out [he was married], I cut it off straight away. I know how damaging affairs can be and I've learned my lesson.

This experience fed into the scandal on MAFS, when Claire, who was paired with Jesse Burford, kissed Adam Seed.

"That's why I was so upset over Adam and Claire. It wasn't about the kiss, but the manipulation by Adam for weeks, to both Janelle [Han] and Jesse," Alyssa explained.

"Adam never showed any remorse. Claire owned up to it and you could tell she wholeheartedly felt awful about it.

"I definitely regret how I treated Claire and will continue apologising."

Alyssa also shared that she regrets how she handled certain situations on the show and wished that she could "have been more articulate" in expressing how she was feeling.

"I'm sorry for a lot and have since apologised to the cast," she said. "When my mental health was deteriorating, I should have demanded to leave and not been made to stay for the sake of their storyline."

Alyssa is still looking for love, while her trial husband Duncan appears to have landed on his feet. He's now dating fellow MAFS Australia season 10 star Evelyn Ellis.
