Married at First Sight UK spoilers follow.

Married at First Sight UK season 9 reunion offered viewers plenty of drama, but ended on a hopeful note for Kristina Goodsell and Kieran Chapman.

The E4 show returned for a brand-new episode tonight (November 13) following some intense Final Vows ceremonies. While two couples – Sacha Jones and Ross McCarthy, and Lacey Martin and Nathan Campbell – stayed together, most of the other pairs decided to go their separate ways.

Amongst the couples who didn't renew their vows were fan-favourites Kieran and Kristina, who unexpectedly broke up before the final decision after a really strong start.

During the post-show dinner party, it seemed apparent that both still deeply cared for one another, though Kieran's revelation that he had dated someone for a few weeks after the experiment upset Kristina.

"It's hard to hear," she said as she teared up. "That's shit."

Meanwhile, the trio of experts reflected on the dinner table not being the best environment for Kieran to share such a thing, with Paul C Brunson saying "there is a time and place" for honesty and transparency.

Reiterating she had invested her all in their marriage, Kristina felt deflated as she branded the experiment "a waste of time," but fellow bride Emma Barnes, who had called it off with Caspar Todd before the final stage, tried to shift her perspective.

Emma insisted both Kristina and Kieran gave what they could in their relationship, praising Kristina for her growth within the experiment.

As both exes got emotional, the episode left the door ajar on a reconciliation. The final Commitment Ceremony will see Paul asking a crucial question on behalf of all MAFS fans: "Why are you not together?"

Meanwhile, things were far less ambiguous for some of the other pairs. Luke Debono acknowledged his shortcomings with ex-wife Amy Kenyon and the two parted ways on an amicable note.

The conflict between Polly Sellman and Adam Nightingale erupted in an explosive row about his lack of attraction to her. The former couple resorted to name-calling and some low blows, with Polly throwing a glass of red wine in Adam's face and then apologising for her behaviour.

Attending without her ex-husband Alex Henry, bride Holly Ditchfield reignited an old feud with Hannah Norburn, who shocked her co-stars by making a grand entrance with Sionainn Carmichael's ex Ryan Livesy.
