MAFS UK's Amy reveals why she actually left her final date with Luke
Despite us heading towards the end of the Married at The First Sight UK experiment, the drama has seriously ramped up this week with the remaining couples going on their final dates. And now bride Amy has revealed why she actually stormed out of her date with Luke.
This week's episodes of Married at First Sight UK saw the remaining couples - Luke and Amy, Polly and Adam, Lacey and Nathan, and Ross and Sacha go on their final dates before they have their final vows.
Luke, 30, and Amy, 27, have struggled in the past few weeks, with Amy questioning Luke's sincerity and the couple struggling to move forward. Their relationship went from bad to worse with a difficult homestay which at one point saw Luke call Amy "bloated" and cutting a picture of himself and another woman in half.
They then went to meet Amy's friends which didn't go well, with Luke feeling uncomfortable about Amy bringing up his former career as a butler in the buff to her friends. Luke ended up storming out and taking off his wedding ring.
Following this at the next commitment ceremony Amy wrote that she wanted to leave the experiment, but because Luke had written 'stay', as per the rules of the experiment both parties remained on the show.
This then meant they headed on their final date the following week to a cooking class. During the cooking class Luke promised not to make any sexual innuendos however, Amy felt he did continue to do this. They then sat down for a meal where Amy asked Luke a bunch of pre-prepared questions about their relationship.
She asked him how many relationships he had been in and answered eight, whereas previously he had only said two. Amy was furious at this new revelation and stormed out of the date. He then later said in an interview with production it may actually be closer to 15 relationships.
Since the episode aired, Amy has since revealed what actually happened on the date. Writing on her Instagram Amy claimed the reason she actually stormed out was due to an issue the couple were discussing that is not able to be aired.
"I walk off set at one point due to something which was again brought up that we weren’t allowed to discuss on camera and therefore unable to be aired. I was sick to death of being silenced by this at this point and therefore, removed myself from the situation," she said.
She continued: "So again the scene has been portrayed in a way that did not happen due to the narrative being warped by this same topic which was constantly being brought up. Due to this being brought up I had to again humiliate myself apologising for 'over reacting' to make the scene make sense 🤷🏼♀️😂.
"I shouldn’t have to feel the need to defend myself as everyone there knew what happened but I’m bored of nasty people thinking they’re watching a pantomime and making comments about my behaviour. I do admit it’s out of character for me however, I will never apologise for my behaviour as it takes a lot to push me over the edge. Remember for every reaction, there was an action ☺️."
Following their date, the couple were then seen making up at their apartment and Luke presented Amy with their wedding rings, and they both agreed to put theirs on, with a commitment to moving forward.
So will it last? We'll have to wait for the final vows to find out.
