Magical festive experiences in stunning UK city include grottos, markets and light trails
The countdown to Christmas is well and truly on across Somerset - with everything from markets to pantos and tempting food treats to enjoy this festive season. And Bath will be sparkling with glittering lights and streets filled with festive spirit.
Tourism bosses have shared a few ideas with Somerset Live for the best things to do in the city this Christmas, including fantastic food and fun for all the family.
And of course Bath's Roman Baths will be joining in the fun with evenings illuminated by torchlight and a trail taking visitors on a journey through Roman holiday traditions.

Bath Christmas Market
Bath’s award-winning Christmas Market returns to the historic city centre streets from November 28 to December 15, featuring over 200 wooden chalets filled with local, handmade produce.

Visit Bath says you can experience a "dreamy winter wonderland with a glistening ice rink" - complete with atmospheric lights, a cosy alpine bar and Glow Golf.

Bauble blowing at Batha Aqua Glass
Workshops are available to book from Tuesday-Saturday throughout the festive period. Head to Bath Aqua Glass for their ‘Breath in a Bauble’ experience where you can choose your colours and breathe into the iron to create a beautiful glass decoration.

Deck the Halls at the American Museum & Gardens
Until New Year's Eve, visit the American Museum & Gardens for a festive hand-crafted Christmas experience. A stunning 18-foot tree will take centre stage in the hall, dressed in 9000 twinkling lights and decorations.
A range of workshops and activities will be on offer and festive food and drink will be available in the deli. Visitors can also enjoy the family-friendly festive dog trail around the gardens and grounds of the museum.

Taking place on various nights in December, top up your levels of festive cheer with comedy nights, festive discos, bingos and cabaret nights - and you can even party with the Wurzels at their Christmas special.

This trail around the park and Palladian bridge from November 30-January 5 features interpretations from each line of the 12 days of Christmas. Stop for a hot chocolate or mince pie at the Tea Cabin.

Saturnalia and festivities at the Roman Baths
From afternoon until closing at 6pm, the Great Bath will be illuminated by torchlight. At weekends throughout December join the festivities at a pop-up bar by the Great Bath.
For young history enthusiasts, the Saturnalia trail (December 21-31) provides an exciting journey through Roman holiday traditions, including gift-giving, home decorating, and festive feasting.
