Magical winter wonderland in Somerset sees famous caves lit up by 100,000 lights

A magical winter wonderland will be taking over a famous visitor attraction in Somerset on the run up to Christmas. From live comedy to a very special winter wonderland, adults-only panto and a very special visit from Paddington, visitors will not want to miss what’s in store at Wookey Hole over the festive period.

Get into the festive spirit as soon as the Winter Wonderland kicks off on Saturday, November 23. Capture the magic of Wookey Hole Caves, lit up with 100,000 fairy lights, before taking the little ones for a trip to Santa’s Grotto – expect a special gift from Santa’s Elves.

Three times a day (12pm, 1.30pm and 3pm) visitors can enjoy an extra special festive circus show live in the Wookey Hole Theatre. The Comedy Cavern also returns to Wookey Hole this December, with a rib-splitting lineup of talent.

December’s Comedy Cavern is hosted by the West Country’sown Cerys Nelmes and headlined by Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Glenn Moore - a regular face on Live at the Apollo, 8 out of 10 Cats and Have I Got News for You. Completing the line-up, is Birmingham’s Jules O’Brian, with a relaxed, witty and chatty style and rising star Billy James, who’s already making a name for himself supporting the likes of Geoff Norcott and Angelos Epithemou

Meet Paddington. From December 27 to January 5, Paddington will be making daily special guest appearances after the Circus Show. And in January it's A-Lad-In, Adult Panto. Following their sell-out smash hit last year with Snow *hite, Rotten to the Core, Glastonbury and Street Pottymouth Squad bring A-Lad-In to Wookey Hole.

Strictly for adults only, the show has all the magic and music of a traditional pantomime but with endless filth to make it a night of ohs, ahs, and belly laughs.

In February 2025, Fraser Penman: Inside the Mind is a show only suitable for 16 years and older. Scotland’s answer to Derren Brown, Fraser Penman is an international Stage Hypnotist and Mentalist.

Returning with his new headline show “Inside the Mind” which combines comedy hypnosis with mind-blowing reading. this headline show is not to be missed.
