Magician Criss Angel taken to hospital after Las Vegas straitjacket trick mishap

Magician Criss Angel was reportedly taken to hospital after a straitjacket escape trick went wrong, leaving him dangling upside down.

The illusionist suffered the performance malfunction during his Las Vegas Mindfreak Live Friday night show.

According to TMZ, Angel was just 10 minutes into his opening act which included the trick that he has performed many times before, making his way out of a straitjacket while being suspended upside down by his ankles.

But after two minutes of struggling to break free, he was lowered onto the stage at the Luxor Hotel and the curtains were closed, with the website reporting that he appeared to be unconscious as the audience were ushered out.

He is said to have been taken to a nearby hospital, but discharged the same night.

"At the Criss Angel Show. Something went wrong when he tried to escape from a jacket while suspended. There is a forced intermission," Twitter user @RyanPerezsaid.

"Went to a @CrissAngel show and I think he almost died. they had to cancel the show after like 15 mins. hope he's cool though," @WillVMusic tweeted.
