Magician David Blaine is reportedly being investigated by police in London after a British model accused him of raping her.

Mr Blaine, 44, is accused of raping the woman in a house in Chelsea in 2004, shortly after her 21st birthday. He "vehemently" denies the claim.

The Met police confirmed to the Standard that it was investigating an allegation of rape matching that time and location.

The force said the report was made on 17 November 2016, but it did not identify the person under investigation.

In a statement, the Met said there have not been any arrests and the investigation is on-going.

The American magician’s attorney Marty Singer told the Standard his client denies the allegations.

He said: “My client vehemently denies that he raped or sexually assaulted any woman, ever, and he specifically denies raping a woman in 2004.

“If, in fact, there is any police investigation, my client will fully cooperate because he has nothing to hide.”

Mr Blaine achieved superstardom with his outlandish stunts over the years, including spending 44 days suspended in a glass box above the River Thames with no food in 2003.

He is also renowned for his levitation trick, in which he appears to hover above the ground.
