Maida Vale assault: Man rushed to major trauma centre 'serious' attack in underground station

A man was rushed to a major trauma centre after a serious assault in Maida Vale underground station.

The site was closed for a time as officers attended the scene.

British Transport Police (BTP) was called at 3.30pm to reports of an assault.

A spokesman said: "On arrival at the station, BTP officers along with ambulance staff located a male on the floor of the booking hall.

"He was unresponsive with injuries consistent with a serious assault."

The man was rushed to hospital and the extent of his injuries are unknown.

A statement from London Ambulance Service said: "We treated a patient at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

Police are attempting to contact his family and were unable to share further details of the incident.

The incident is being investigated and forensics officers were seen outside the station.
