A WOMAN was injured after a car flipped on to its roof on a main road near York.

The B1222 Naburn Lane between Naburn and Fulford was closed both ways for several hours yesterday evening after the accident but reopened in the late evening.

One local resident said a car had flipped on to its roof on the section between the bridge and the rear exit of the Fulford Designer Outlet.

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said today that crews from York and Acomb attended the single vehicle collision at 6.15pm, involving a Nissan Micra which came to rest on its roof.

"Two occupants of the vehicle were out on arrival of crews," a spokesperson.

"The male driver, aged 50, was uninjured, and the female passenger, aged 38, was treated at the scene by the fire service, who administered oxygen therapy, before she was taken to hospital via road ambulance."

They added that the woman had suffered an arm injury.
