Maisie Williams wants X-Men fans concerned about the state of spin-off The New Mutants to know that there's nothing to worry about.

Rumours abound about why 20th Century Fox recently announced it was delaying the release of director Josh Boone's movie nearly a year, from this April to February 2019.

In a recent chat with Screenrant, Wolfsbane actress Maisie addressed the two most prevalent rumours surrounding pending reshoots - that Boone has been ordered to boost the horror content and that Fox wants it to tie directly into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"I think everything you've just rattled off is just rumours," she insisted. "But we're releasing early next year and I'm properly excited.

"I've seen little parts of it and I've done a load of ADR for it and it's really exciting watching it all back. It feels a long while since we've done it, and I always enjoy going seeing little bits of it before it's released, so I'm looking forward to it coming out."

Earlier this week, Maisie went even further when she argued that delaying New Mutants' release is ultimately better for the film than dropping it now.

"I think it's good that we've got more time," she reasoned. "We're not so strapped and up against it. It gives us time – it gives me time to get to know the project once it's finalised."

The New Mutants will now be released in cinemas on February 22, 2019 in UK and US cinemas.
