Major Edinburgh police response scrambled to Princes Street after 'group disturbance'

A major police response swooped on Edinburgh's Princes Street following a report of a disturbance involving a 'number of people'.

Several police cars and vans were seen parked outside The Balmoral hotel and Waverley Station at around 9pm on Saturday night, June 1, following the emergency incident.

One witness who passed the scene reported seeing officers speaking with several individuals on the busy street. A spokesperson for the force has since confirmed officers were called to a report of a disturbance involving a group.

However, upon arrival nobody required medical treatment and no arrests were made. Enquiries are continuing to establish full circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called around 9.10pm on Saturday, 1 June, to a report of a disturbance involving a group on Princes Street in Edinburgh.
