Major incident near Uddingston school as man dies after being found 'seriously injured'

A man has died after being found 'seriously injured' near an Uddingston high school.

Emergency services were called to General's Gate near Uddingston Grammar School at around 7.35pm on Sunday, October 6, after a 33-year old male was found injured.

Medics rushed him to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, however, he was tragically pronounced dead on arrival.

Officers remain at the scene and enquires are ongoing into the full circumstances surrounding the death.

Local parents have reported that roads around the school are closed this morning.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.35pm on Sunday, 6 October 2024, police were called to General's Gate, Uddingston, where a 38-year-old man was found seriously injured.

"He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow but was pronounced dead on arrival. Officers remain at the scene as the investigation into his death continue."

South Lanarkshire Council has been contacted for comment.
