Major Peterborough road shuts as police rush to concerns for woman's welfare

Part of a major road in Peterborough was closed this morning (January 18), as police were dealing with an incident in the area. The A1139 Fletton Parkway was closed while the police to attend to the scene.

The road was closed at around 4am with people told to avoid the area to allow the police to deal with the incident. A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said it received reports of concern for the welfare of a woman in the area. The road was shortly reopened about an hour after it was closed.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "It was a concern for welfare. A female was located on a bridge. There was an extensive search for her. Luckily, she was found and she has been taken to hospital and safe guarded."
