Major rail disruption between Exeter and Axminster amid two-week line closure
Major travel disruption is expected to affect train passengers in November as South Western Railway announces a 14-day line closure. The two-week closure will affect all services between Exeter St Davids and Axminster, close to the Somerset border.
The work starts on Saturday, November 9 and will last until Friday, November 22. The rail service has said there will be replacement buses to take passengers to their destinations.
Essential engineer work is being carried out during the two week closure, which will affect a number of stops in Devon. The rail service is working on the West of England line.

The line from Exeter St Davids stops at Exeter Central, Pinhoe, Cranbrook, Whimple, Feniton, Honiton and Axminster. Services from Axminster will continue as normal to London Waterloo.
South Western Railway has said the reason for the line closure is due to maintenance work. It said: "The lines between Axminster and Exeter will be closed from Saturday 9 until Friday 22 November due to maintenance work.
"London Waterloo to Exeter services will terminate at Axminster. Buses will run between Axminster and Exeter."
