A major road has been closed "until further notice" due to a landslide.

The A21 near Hastings is closed both ways between the A28 Westfield Lane and Moat Lane.

There are severe delays as a result.

A spokesman for National Highways said: "The A21 in East Sussex is closed in both directions between the A2100 near Battle and the A28 near Hastings due to a carriageway defect.

"Emergency services are on scene and our contractors en route to assess the road."

The road has now reopened and temporary traffic lights are in place, so motorists are told to expect some delays.
