Major road partially closed and residents urged to keep windows shut as crews tackle Northumberland farm blaze

Residents in an area of Northumberland are being urged to keep their windows shut as crews tackle a fire at a farm.

Firefighters are currently on scene in Ellington after a fire took hold of a domestic garage at Hagg Farm. Due to the volume of smoke, residents in the area are being urged to keep doors and windows shut.

A partial road closure has also been put in place by Northumbria Police, with the A1068 currently down to one lane. Four fire engines were initially sent to the farm, but the call-out has since been scaled back to two.

A statement from Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews are currently dealing with an incident at Hagg Farm, Ellington. Local residents are requested to keep doors and windows shut due to the volume of smoke. Police have a partial road closure in place on A1068, with the road being down to one lane."
