Closures will be in place on the A303 until next month as essential resurfacing work takes place. A two-mile section of the road will be closed between Newtown and Stopgate Cross in Somerset.

National Highways said there will be weeknight closures from 8pm until 6am from tonight (Monday, January 13) until Friday, January 24. The road will then be shut throughout the weekend until Monday, January 27.

A second closure will be in place from 8pm on Friday, January 31 until 6am on Monday, February 3. Motorists heading eastbound should follow a diversion route via the A30 and Stooper’s Hill to rejoin the A303 north of Newtown.
