Major South West trunk road set to close
Sections of a major trunk road through the South West will be closed overnight while cat’s eyes are replaced. National Highways is also repainting road markings and has been staging the phased A303 closures in Somerset since November 15, but they will continue until next month.
A spokesperson said: “We’ll carry out this work in phases with short sections of carriageway closed weeknights from 8pm to 6am. During the day, and at weekends, the road will be open as usual.

November 25 to 27: eastbound and westbound closure - Eagle Cross to Southfields roundabout. Eastbound diversion via A30, Crawley, Chard, and A358. Joining A303 at Southfields roundabout. Westbound traffic in reverse. Local traffic diversion via Street Ash to join A30.
November 28 to 29: eastbound closure between Cartgate roundabout (A3088) and Ilchester (including slip roads) Diversion via A3088, Watercombe Lane, A30, Yeovil, and A37 joining A303 by Ilchester.
December 2: eastbound closure between junction of A356 and Cartgate roundabout (A3088). Including slip roads. Diversion via A356, Crewkerne, A30, West Coker, Watercombe Lane, and A3088.
December 3: westbound closure between A356 junction and South Petherton (Hayes End roundabout). Diversion via A356, Merriott, Harp Road, to rejoin A303 at Hayes End roundabout.
