Make ‘A Merry Christmas’ great again: Donald Trump ditches Obama’s ‘Happy Holidays’ Christmas card message

Donald Trump always does things his own way – and Christmas is no exception.

The US president has ditched the seasonal greeting used by his predecessor on the White House Christmas card.

While Barack Obama went for the rather politically correct ‘Happy Holidays’ on his card, Mr Trump has reverted back to plain old ‘Merry Christmas’.

Mr Trump had signalled his Christmas card intentions last month, telling the Voter Values Summit: ‘They don’t use the word “Christmas” because it’s not politically correct. We’re saying “Merry Christmas” again.’

The Trump card was unveiled along with the White House Christmas decorations.

The Christmas card from the Trumps is signed by Donald, wife Melania and son Barron, 11.

It reads: ‘Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.’

The first lady welcomed invited children to view the White House Christmas decorations, which she selected herself.

When Melania emerged amid the decorations in a white dress, one boy remarked: ‘She’s beautiful, like an angel!’

She helped a group of children make decorations in the East Room of the White House.

The festive display includes a Christmas tree that is 18ft tall.
