Maldon High Street shut as winds from Storm Bert blows off building's roof
An Essex high street has been shut after a roof collapsed onto the street following strong winds from Storm Bert. The high winds have seen huge stacks of bricks brought down in Maldon - with firefighters warning people to avoid the area.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service are at Embassy Court off Maldon High Street to attend the collapsed structure. It is not yet known how long it will take to clear the scene.
A yellow weather warning for wind is in place for Essex today from the Met Office which is due to last until the evening. Maldon High Street remains closed while work is carried out to make the scene safe and clear the debris.

Pictures show a huge amount of bricks on the floor between two buildings at Embassy Court. It is not believed anyone has been injured in the incident.
A spokesman for Maldon Fire Station said: "Firefighters from Maldon are currently at Embassy Court, attending a collapsed structure incident along with colleagues from Chelmsford, Colchester and USAR (Urban Search & Rescue), as well as the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and local police.
"As the structure has not yet been declared safe, please be aware the High Street is currently closed from the Wantz Road Junction to Victoria Road."
