Male model Dynus Saxon, 20, charged with murder in gruesome Bronx stabbing
NEW YORK — An 20-year-old successful male model has been arrested for murdering a man who still had a knife lodged in his chest when cops arrived at the bloody Bronx murder scene.
Dynus Saxon was charged Monday with murder, manslaughter and weapon possession in the death of 35-year-old Kadeem Grant.
Saxon has appeared in Vogue Italia, ad campaigns for Levi’s and fashion magazine L’Officiel Baltic , posing on the beach and boardwalk of Coney Island wearing everything from a suit to underwear. In July, Saxon appeared on the red carpet for the premiere of “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
“Yesterday I spoke to Dynus and Dynus does not remember what happened,” the mother of the suspect told the Daily News Tuesday. “He doesn’t know what happened. There’s something there and I got to figure out what. Dynus will protect himself, he’s a human being, you know what I’m saying. He’s young. I don’t know what kind of situation he had got himself into.”
“He’ll dance, he’ll have fun under some circumstances,” she added. “But, you know, he’s really not an aggressor.”
Police responded to the Mott Haven building after a 911 call around 2:20 p.m. Sunday, where they found Grant stabbed lying on a couch in the apartment. The victim had also been cut on his hands and feet, police said.
“He was hanging out with people,” Saxon’s mother said of her son. “That’s what he does. He’s young, you know. He was just hanging out. He has friends every f–king where. This is a model.”
Grant was rushed to Lincoln Hospital and died about 3:00 p.m.
Saxon was hospitalized after his Monday arrest and is awaiting arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court.
“He is hurt,” Saxon’s mother said of her son. “The cop called me, I was his person that (Saxon) wanted to call from the hospital …There’s a lot that it possibly could be and I just kind of got to wait to see what is said.”
Saxon’s mother said she doesn’t recognize the victim’s name or know anything about him.
“I don’t know what happened but I can tell y’all based on what I do know that it’s not going to be as simple as you want to make it,” she said. “Dynus didn’t just decide to murder somebody.”
“I’ve run a hundred scenarios through my head,” she addied. “If you back him into a corner, he’ll defend himself … Where did the knife come from? It had to come from inside an apartment because (Saxon) didn’t walk with a knife.”
“Whatever happened it was not murder,” she insisted. “He hasn’t even done work in like three, six months … He walks around the street. He walks everywhere. He puts his headphones on and skateboards.”
