Malia Obama dines with fashionable crowd during ski break in Aspen

Barack Obama's eldest daughter, Malia, has enjoyed a ski break with fashionable friends in Aspen.

Miss Obama's party at Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro in the exclusive mountain town included three children of Steve Tisch, owner of the New York Giants American football team, and the grandson of Diane von Furstenberg, the fashion designer.

They dined inside and were joined by parents and others including designer Monique Lhuiller, a favourite of Miss Obama's mother Michelle.

Outside the restaurant a large group took part in a much rowdier affair, spraying over 200 bottles of expensive champagne and celebrating shirtless.

One of the revellers posted on social media, "Spraying off Champagne fireworks with a bunch of marvelous maniacs and Obama's daughter."

Miss Obama, 18, is taking a gap year before enrolling at Harvard, and is currently interning for the Weinstein film company.

She spent the long weekend in Aspen and was spotted at a nightclub among other hotspots before returning to New York, according to the Mail Online.
