Man, 19, killed after tree crushes car in horror crash as Storm Eowyn claims another victim
A 19-year-old man has been killed after the car he was driving was crushed by a falling tree during Storm Eowyn. The victim was behind the wheel of a blue Ford Focus during the storm on Friday, 24 January.
A falling tree struck his car and left him injured, police confirmed. The man was rushed to hospital but he could not be saved and died the following day.
The fatal collision took place on the B743 in in Mauchline, East Ayrshire, Scotland, at about 6.45am. Police Scotland said: "A man has died after his car was struck by a falling tree in Mauchline, East Ayrshire.

"The incident happened around 6.45am on Friday, January 24, on the B743 and involved a blue Ford Focus. The driver, a 19-year-old man, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.
"He died on Saturday, January 25." The Met Office said Storm Eowyn caused 'significant impacts' across the UK, with provisional peak gusts of 100mph recorded in Drumalbin, Lanarkshire.
A number of weather warnings were issued as forecasters warned of strong winds and heavy downpours. Sergeant Chris McColm of the road policing unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died."
