Man in his 20s seriously injured after being hit by van

A man in his 20s was seriously injured after being knocked off his motorbike. Police officers were called to the Dock Road in Wallasey at around 2.40pm today (Friday, January 17) to reports of a crash involving a motorbike and a van.
The motorbike rider was rushed to hospital and the van driver remains at the scene, police said. The road is closed from Poulton Bridge Road to Limekiln Lane, Poulton. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes.

One witness described seeing "loads of police" at the scene. North West Ambulance Service confirmed a patient has been taken to hospital after they received a 999 call at 2.33pm.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We were called to a Road Traffic Collison on the Dock Road, Wallasey at around 2.40pm today 17 January. The caller reported a collision involving a van and motorbike.
"The motorbike rider is seriously injured and has been taken to hospital. The road is closed from Poulton Bridge Road to Limekiln Lane, Poulton. Road users are advised to use alternative routes. The van driver remains at the scene."
