Nightclub acid attack: Reality TV star's boyfriend Arthur Collins arrested

Police have arrested a reality TV star's boyfriend who was wanted in connection with an acid attack in a nightclub that left two people partially blinded and others disfigured.

Arthur Collins, 25, the boyfriend of Ferne McCann who appeared in The Only Way Is Essex, was arrested at an address in Rushden, Northants, on Saturday night.

Collins was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is to be taken to a London police station.

His arrest comes after a corrosive liquid was allegedly sprayed at the Mangle E8 club in Dalston, east London.

Another man, Andre Phoenix, 21, was charged on Saturday with seven counts of grievous bodily harm and will appear in court on Monday.

About 20 clubbers suffered burns when they came into contact with the acid on Easter Monday - they included a 22-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man who were blinded in one eye.

Detective Inspector Lee McCullough said: "The noxious substance used has not yet been confirmed but samples retrieved from the scene have been sent for analysis.

"If you were there and saw anyone involved inside or leaving the nightclub, please get in touch."

The man blinded in one eye and another victim, a man aged 29, had been transferred to a specialist burns hospital in Essex but have now been discharged.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in north London on Friday over the incident and has since been released.
