Man, 26, arrested after 'failing to stop car for police and fleeing at speed'

A 26-year-old man has been arrested after a driver is reported to have fled at speed when asked to stop by police.

Shortly before 9am on Tuesday, September 24, officers spotted the driver of a black Mercedes acting suspiciously in the area of Barnetby Top.

When requested to stop by officers, the driver is reported to have fled the area at speed in an attempt to evade police.

Following a police pursuit, officers stopped the vehicle and a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of:

  • Driving a motor vehicle dangerously

  • Failing to stop

  • Theft of a motor vehicle

  • Using a motor vehicle without insurance

  • Driving a motor vehicle without a license

  • Driving whilst unfit through drugs

  • Driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of controlled drug above the specified limit

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: "If anyone has information regarding this incident, you can contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 75 of 24 September."
