Man, 27, seriously injured after savage gang street attack in Huddersfield

A 27-year-old man has suffered a serious injury to his face after he was beaten by a group of men in a Huddersfield street.

The attack happened in the Towngate area of Newsome on Friday evening, with the details released by police today. Two men have been arrested in connection with the attack.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police were called to Towngate in Newsome at about 9.27pm on Friday, June 7 to a report a man had been seriously assaulted in the street by a group of males.

"Emergency services attended and located the victim who had suffered a serious facial injury and was taken to hospital for treatment. Two Huddersfield men aged 22 and 23 were arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the matter and have since been released on police bail as enquiries continue."
