A man has died after a serious crash on the A2 near Rochester. Emergency services including Kent Police officers and paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) were called to the scene at around 2.30am this morning (September 26).

A black VW Tiguan was travelling along the coast-bound carriageway, near the slip road for the A289 towards Wainscott, when it collided with the central reservation barrier and a bridge parapet. A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Patrols and Secamb attended the scene where the driver, a 29-year-old man, was confirmed deceased. His next of kin have been informed.”

Following the collision, a road closure was put in place in both directions on the A2 near its junction with the M2 while responders worked. Heavy traffic and long delays built around the A2 and on the M2 throughout the morning.
