Man, 33, arrested following 'assault' on Preston Road

A man has been arrested following an assault which took place on Preston Road, east Hull.

At around 2.15pm on Thursday (June 6), police were called to the area following reports that a man had suffered facial injuries after being assaulted in the street, close to Archbishop Sentamu Academy.

Following an investigation, a 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault. Police are now reassuring members of the public that the incident is believed to have been between people known to each other.


Detective Inspector Hannah McPeake from Humberside Police's Criminal Investigation Department said: “Firstly, I want to thank the local community for their patience whilst initial enquiries were underway at the scene. Road closures were put in place to enable the necessary investigations to take place which I appreciate may have impacted those travelling in the area.

“Incidents of this nature can understandably cause concern, however I want to offer my reassurance that we do believe this to be an incident between people known to each other.

“One man has been arrested in connection with the report and he remains in our custody at this time.
