Man, 44, shot while walking down Wolverhampton street

A man was shot while walking down a Wolverhampton street during darkness. The 44-year-old victim was targeted as he walked along Minerva Lane, in the Horseley Fields area of the city, at around 11pm on Wednesday (September 18).

He was taken to hospital and treated for a gunshot injury, which is not believed to be serious. West Midlands Police said it was not yet clear if the shooting was targeted and it has opened an online portal for people to submit information such as CCTV or ring door bell footage.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We are appealing for information after a man was injured in Wolverhampton on Wednesday. We believe that a man was walking along Minerva Lane Wolverhampton at around 11pm on 18 September when he was injured.

"The 44-year-old was taken to hospital and was treated for a gunshot wound which is not believed to be serious. Since the incident we've been making extensive enquiries and we are now appealing to anyone who has any information, CCTV or ring door bell footage that could help us to get in touch.
