Man, 50, hit by car in Paisley dies in hospital four days later

A man has died four days after he was struck by a car in Paisley.

The incident happened at around 8.10am on Wednesday, September 18 on the town's Hawkhead Road. Two men aged 50 and 40 were rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries.

Police Scotland has confirmed the 50-year-old man died in hospital on Sunday, September 22.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

The busy road was closed for around eight hours while enquires were carried out.

Road policing officers are continuing to appeal for information and are asking the public for assistance.

Sergeant Scott Gourlay said: “At this time, our thoughts are with the family of the deceased, along with everyone else affected by this incident.

“Our investigation into the circumstances remain ongoing and we ask anyone who has any information, including dash-cam footage at the time of the incident, to contact police.”
