Man accused of knifepoint robbery to appear in court
A man accused of an attempted knifepoint robbery will appear in court next month.
Jason Anthony Smyth was arrested and charged on suspicion of attempted robbery and possessing a bladed article following an alleged incident in Middle Street, Blackhall.
The 27-year-old is believed to have been involved in the incident just after midnight on October 3.
He appeared at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on October 5 but did not enter a plea.
Smyth’s case was transferred to Durham Crown Court, where he will next appear on November 4. He was remanded into custody until the hearing next month.
