Man airlifted to hospital after A39 Barnstaple crash
A man has been airlifted to hospital after being seriously hurt in a multi-vehicle crash in north Devon. The A39 has been closed in both directions after three vehicles collided at Hornwood, Barnstaple.
One person has sustained serious injuries in the crash. Devon and Cornwall Police said he has been taken to hospital by an air ambulance. We are updating our live blog here ahead of rush hour.
The A39 is still closed with long delays in the area. Traffic monitor Inrix reports: "A39 in both directions closed, long delays due to multi-vehicle accident from A3125 (Roundswell roundabout, Barnstaple) to B3233 ( Instow Turn Off, Bideford ). Congestion to routes through Instow and Fremington as traffic heads away."

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were notified at around 1pm on Tuesday 28 January following reports of a collision involving three vehicles on the A39 at Horwood, Barnstaple.
"One man has been reported as having received serious injuries as a result and has been taken to hospital via the Air Ambulance. A road closure is currently in place."
