Man and woman found dead in Burton house, child rescued

A man and a woman have been found dead inside a house and a two-year-old child rescued from the scene of a suspected murder-suicide.

Emergency services were called to Henhurst Hill, in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffs. at around 11pm on Wednesday (4/9).

The bodies of a 32-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were discovered inside the property in the leafy suburb of the town.

A two-year-old child was found safe in the house and was today (Thurs) being cared for by relatives.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "Detectives are continuing to investigate this morning following the discovery of two bodies at a property in Burton.

"The bodies of a 32-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were discovered at the address.

"A two-year-old child was found unharmed at the property.

"The deaths are being treated as unexplained at this time and post mortems will take place in due course. Formal identification has not yet taken place.

"A cordon is in place as forensic enquiries continue and detectives work to establish the circumstances around the deaths."

Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and the hazardous area response team were sent to the scene.

A second man was also discharged by medics after being assessed at the house.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of an incident at a property in Henhurst Hill in Burton on Trent at just after 11.00pm last night.

"Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and the hazardous area response team were sent to the scene.

"Sadly, ambulance crews confirmed a man and a woman dead at the scene. A second man and a young child were discharged after assessment."
