Man 'approaches woman from behind' in Derby and 'cuts off' her jewellery

Derbyshire Police are investigating after receiving reports a man robbed a woman by cutting off her jewellery. Members of the public were forced to intervene during the incident on Sunday, September 8, police said

The incident occurred at around 2.15pm. The victim, a woman in her 30s, was walking along Stanhope Street when she was approached from behind by a man who then cut her gold chain from her neck and ran off.

The man is described as being Indian, in his 30s, around 5ft 7, of an average build with short black hair and black facial hair. He was wearing a blue hoodie and grey trousers. Derbyshire Police said: "A number of people in the area intervened and helped the woman after the incident and officers are keen to speak to them as well as anyone who recognises the description of the man or has any information on the robbery.
