Man arrested for drink driving after Audi ploughs into Chinese takeaway

A man has been arrested after ploughing his car into a town centre Chinese restaurant.

The crash happened in Market Place in Thetford when the green and black Audi hit the Phoenix House takeaway.

Bouncing off the stone building, the car was badly damaged with debris being cast around the road and to the nearby Green Dragon pub.

Following the crash at 6pm on Sunday, the driver, a man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Station for questioning.

One fire crew from Thetford also attended the scene.
