A 36-year-old man has been arrested 18 years after a bomb hoax was made at a west London fast food restaurant.

Detectives from Kensington and Chelsea made the arrest at an address in Essex on Wednesday.

It comes almost two decades after the threat on the eatery in Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, on November 10 1999.

It was claimed at the time that the threat was made by a far-right organisation.

The arrest comes following a forensic review of evidence seized from the scene.

The man is currently being held at a custody centre in east London, Scotland Yard said.

A spokesman added: “Detectives from Kensington and Chelsea have arrested a 36-year-old man at a residential address in Essex on suspicion of an offence under Section 51 of the Criminal Law Act, namely making a bomb threat.”
