A man has been arrested in connection with reports of an assault in a residential area of Bradford.

The incident took place on Bank, Eccleshill, shortly after 5.30pm on Friday (May 24).

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police confirmed that officers had been contacted about an injured male in the Bank area.

A male patient was taken to the hospital by ambulance but his condition remains unknown at this time.

In the latest update, police revealed a man has since been arrested "a short distance away" from the scene.

Enquiries remain ongoing.

Crime scene investigators can be seen gathering forensic evidence at the site of the incident.

The well-used road has been closed for several hours with cars having to do U-turns on the steep road.

Bank is a residential road that runs off Harrogate Road. At the other end, it meets Norman Lane, which itself runs towards the Five Lane Ends roundabout.

When the Telegraph & Argus arrived at the scene this evening, a large cordon was in place and a number of police officers were standing guard.

PCSOs have been guarding the scene - which can only be entered by residents who live at properties within the cordon.

One of the cordons stretched across a flight of steps leading behind the residential properties on Bridgegate Way.
