NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – A 35-year-old man was arrested Monday night after Nacogdoches County officials said “a large quantity of methamphetamines” were found in his truck.
Authorities said deputies noticed a 1999 Dodge Dakota swerving on State Highway 103 near the intersection with FM 226, crossing the center stripe, while patrolling the Etoile area around 11:30 p.m. The truck also reportedly did not have the license plate light on, and scraped the pavement sending a spray of sparks while crossing a bridge before it was stopped.
The driver of the truck, identified as Westley Dorsett, 35 of Lufkin, was found to have a parole-violation warrant, and in the truck bed, officials said that deputies found “a fanny pack containing drug paraphernalia, and a sunglasses case packed with two bags of methamphetamine weighing a combined total of 89 grams, or approximately 3.1 ounces.”
Dorsett was booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail for second-degree felony possession of a controlled substance. His passenger was released from the scene and not charged with an offense.
