Man arrested after 'violent altercation' near pub as police appeal for information on black Mercedes

Police are appealing for information after violence broke out in a Hartlepool street during the early hours of the morning.

The "small group of people" carried on the "violent altercation" from Church Street and police also want anyone with details of a black Mercedes car spotted near the incident to come forward. It happened shortly after 12.15am on Saturday, November 16 near the Tipsy Doorman pub.

It then moved across the street near to Sambuca restaurant before entering Station Approach. A 46-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He remains in police custody on Sunday while enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "A black Mercedes car was seen in the area shortly after the incident, travelling down Church Street before entering Station Approach. Anyone who witnessed the altercation, or who saw the Mercedes in the area at the time, is asked to contact police.

"Officers are also appealing for anyone with any CCTV or phone footage of the incident or of the area at the time, to get in touch.
