Man arrested after woman is allegedly assaulted in Cullercoats home

A man was arrested after a woman was allegedly assaulted in a seaside home.

Police went to Links Road in Cullercoats on Bank Holiday Monday after getting a report of a disturbance at a property on the street. A 36-year-old man was arrested.

The suspect was questioned on suspicion of assault before being released on bail. ChronicleLive understands the alleged assault victim is a woman.

Following the incident, which was reported at around 10.30pm, officers could be seen carrying out house-to-house enquiries on the street.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said enquiries into the incident were ongoing.

She said: “Just after 10.30pm on Monday, May 27, we received a report of a disturbance at an address on Links Road in Cullercoats, North Tyneside.

“Officers attended the scene, and a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault. He has since been released on bail. Enquiries are ongoing."
